Coffee and Conversation: We know this is a special time after Worship and for some, a highlight of the week in being with church family. But, this doesn’t just happen without volunteers. Please consider this as part of your ministry in your church and sign up to host a Sunday. Sign-up sheets are posted and waiting for you! Many thanks to this week’s Coffee Hosts: Evans & Gaveliu! Thank you for all your help!

 

SUMMER  CLEAN-UP JOBS

1) To wash /dust the artificial plants at the front of the Sanctuary. This should take only a short time and really only needs one person. (although I do believe it's more fun with a buddy!)

2) The classrooms downstairs need to be tidied and gone through ...checking supplies and pencils, crayons and such). THIS INCLUDES both sides of the Lower Hall. If you have items that are dear to you, please label and put in proper place.

There is a sign-up sheet on the office desk. Please fill at your earliest convenience

possABilities Of The SPIRIT: Our renters are winding up their spring session with a BBQ! On June, 27th, 2018, 10AM-2:00PM, join them for a Celebration of The Spirit Native Dancing, Drumming, and Bannock bread. For LUC members the cost to participate is $5.00, guests are $10.00, and All Are Welcome.

An Interfaith Conversation: Salvation: The Temple B’nai Tikvah 900 47 Ave SW, Calgary  is hosting an interfaith event surrounding their topic of salvation through the lens of not only Christianity but also Buddhism, Judaism, and Islam. The event is FREE and open to the public.

 

Do you have a young budding artist in your life? St Mary’s university has a summer art camp for both kids (Grades 4-6) and Youth (Grades 7-8). The camp includes not only introduction to art, glass mosaic and calligraphy skills but will also feature some voice and drama basics, all of which will be shown off at the end of week Final Art Showcase! Dates are July 9-13th, 16th-20th and the camp runs 8:30AM-5:00PM. Indigenous Voices, Stories of THIS Land: Come to the Fire. Join facilitators Casey Eagle Speaker, Michelle Scot and Tamara Le-Anne Cardinal around the fire with a potluck lunch on a summer’s day to share in ceremony and uncover very local indigenous stories that few have heard in current times. Time will also be spent indoors at the Aisinna’kiikas Exhibit with curator Tamara Le-Anne Cardinal and outside on a walking tour of the campus $75/Person, For more info contact Elizabeth Cressman Elizabeth.cressman@stmu.ca

Coffee and Conversation: This week join us for Sundae Sunday, for a special extra treat in addition to coffee and conversation! A wonderful time following worship for FOOD-FUN-FELLOWSHIP. We know this is a special time after Worship and for some, a highlight of the week in being with church family. But, events like these don’t just happen without volunteers. Please consider this as part of your ministry in your church and sign up to host a Sunday. Sign-up sheets are posted and waiting for you! The LUC is now a NUT FREE AREA. There are members of the congregation and renters that have severe anaphylactic allergies, we request that you remove and/or do not bring ANY products containing nuts onto the premises to keep it a safe space for all.

Ploughshares Calgary Society would like to invite you to two events. The first, Korean Consul General Gunn Kim has graciously agreed to speak to us on the Nuclear Weapons program in North Korea and the peace issues facing the people of South Korea on Monday, June 11th at 7 pm at Parkdale United Church, 2919-8 Ave NW in the auditorium.

The Board of Directors of Ploughshares Calgary Society would also like to invite you to our Annual General Meeting to be held on Wednesday, June 13th at 7 pm at Parkdale United Church conference room.  Rev. John Pentland will be presenting on “Leaving Things Better Than We Found Them”.

Refreshments will follow the performances.

The Unison Festival is a Canadian LGBTQ2 choral festival that brings together choirs from across Canada every 4 years for a non-competitive celebration of choral music in queer community.
