KITCHEN NOTES: The small coffee urns are now kept in the lower cupboard across from the dishwasher. If you have something that you use and would like kept, please label so others are aware. Items left on top of the cabinets are a safety issue as well causing clutter. Please help in keeping our kitchen clean and tidy.
Observer Renewal The United Church Observer helps us to connect as a church family and learn about our place in the wider community of faith. Group rate is $20/year, cash or cheque. Wednesday February 22: Ash Wednesday with St. Laurence Anglican Church As in years past, the people of Lakeview United Church have been invited to St. Laurence Anglican Church for Ash Wednesday, February 22 at 7:30pm for a service of Imposition of Ashes with Communion. Please meet there and be served by our good neighbours in preparation for our common Lenten journey. The Rector, Anna Greenwood-Lee, warmly leads us through the simple service, so don’t hesitate if it is a new service for you. We are there together, and you will have good company!

Begins Wed., February 29th at 7pm for 6 weeks. LENTEN SERIES: THE CUP OF OUR LIVES. LENT interrupts. We pause and enter a more reflective season. Join us for our Lenten series “The Cup of Our Lives.” based on the book by Joyce Rupp. With our own favourite mug as a focus, we will explore together, through conversation and quiet reflection, how cups can be a rich symbol of our lives and our relationship with God– lives that are ordinary and spiritually thirsty at times, lives both empty and full, sometimes wounded or “chipped”, lives we share with others. Bring yourselves, your mug, a notebook and a pen. Come for one session or them all! Facilitators: Judy Ries and Anne Selby.
Friday March 2,7:30 PM LUC is hosting World Day of Prayer. . Nine other churches in the area will be participating in the service with us. We will be joining with 170 countries around the world, all using the service prepared by the women of Malaysia. What an opportunity! Imagine what a difference millions of Christians in solidarity with one another can make. Plan to be here!
Sunday March 4 11:30 Wild Rose United Church Annual International Buffet Sunday. Reverend Bill Phipps, former Moderator of the United Church of Canada, is our featured speaker. His presentation will highlight the important work carried out by the Mission and Service Fund through its Global Partnerships. Rev. Phipps' talk will be followed by a Question and Answer session. Now is your chance to find a WHERE M&S dollars go overseas and HOW effective are the projects and partnerships. A "Free Will Offering" will go to the M&S Fund. You are asked to bring a sample of your favourite "heritage" recipe for others to experience at the buffet. We hope to see you there!
LUC walking group meets on the 3rd Monday of each month at 10:30, bring your lunch. We gather in the parking lot to carpool to a site for a stroll, not too far nor fast.
