]]>My name is Vicki McPhee and I have recently accepted contract position for up to six months as the new Children’s Ministry Enthusiast for Lakeview United Church. I am a Candidate for Ministry and am training to become a diaconal minister in the United Church of Canada. The focus of diaconal ministry is Pastoral Care, Education and Social Ministry.
Over the years I have held several volunteer roles in the area of Christian Education—teacher, nursery coordinator, chairperson. In 2006 I was a leader of a youth mission trip during which we helped with building construction at an orphanage in Mexico. In 2008 I was a coordinator of the Calgary Presbytery Zambia Youth Exposure Tour. Until recently I have been a Youth Leader at St. Thomas United Church in northwest Calgary.
In my new role, I will be overseeing KidsQuest by assisting current volunteers in preparing, teaching, leading and assisting the volunteers as needed over the next few months. I will also be looking at re-igniting the Youth Group for those youth in Junior and Senior High. I look forward to hearing from the youth about what they would like to see happen at Lakeview! I am planning an intergenerational church community gathering before the school year ends so you can look forward to receiving an invitation when I have all of the details!

I am excited about the opportunity to work with the Faith Formation Committee, the Minister and the current KidsQuest volunteers to make church on Sundays an inviting, open and welcoming place for all of the children and youth of Lakeview United Church. Dedicated and loving teachers use biblically-based, age-appropriate curriculum to communicate God’s love to all our children, as well as God’s challenge to love the earth and its people. Worship, music, Bible stories, crafts, drama & service opportunities designed especially for them. (Ages 4 to 12.)
