A discussion with local artist Peter Prest on how inspiration leads to a finished painting and on the connection he has found between spirituality and art.  Ask questions, share experiences with and impressions of art, and perhaps learn some trade secrets.

A Canadian drama film directed & written by Richie Mehta.  Set in modern-day New Delhi, India, it tells the story of a poor auto-rickshaw driver, Amal Kumar.  Amal is content with his small but vital role – driving customers around New Delhi as quickly & safely as possible.  His sense of duty is tested by an eccentric aging billionaire, who, moved by Amal’s humility, bequeaths to him his entire estate before passing away.  With only one  month  to discover & claim the inheritance, Amal’s struggles with duty & wealth are threatened by all those around him – from a young beggar girl and a lovely store merchant, to the danger of the old man’s upper-caste friends & siblings, all seeking to claim their share of the riches.

Based on true events, Evelyn tells the inspiring story of real-life hero Desmond Doyle and his young children, Evelyn, Maurice, and Dermot.  Struggling to raise his kids alone in Ireland in 1953, Doyle is devastated when the power of the Church and the Irish courts take his children away and put them in orphanages.  Vowing to reunite his family, he enlists the help of his friends and together they attempt to do what has never been done before - challenge a law before the Irish Supreme Court.  Doyle's fight to keep his family intact becomes an uplifting testament of a father's love and the power of the human spirit.

A high school French teacher assigns her class a creative writing translation exercise on a real life terrorist bombing.  In the terrorist act, a man planted a bomb in the suitcase of his unsuspecting girlfriend.  One student, played by Devon Bostick, takes the idea a step further. In order to examine the life of his own parents, he re-imagines the terrorist story as if the events happened to them.  Upon reading the well written piece, the teacher asks the student to present the story as fact to the class, the idea being to spark a social experiment within the classroom.  The act creates a controversial chain of events that affects everyone in the class and the community.

Young @ Heart documents the true story of the final weeks of rehearsal for the Young at Heart Chorus in Northhampton, Maine, whose average age is 81, and many of whom must overcome health adversities to participate.  Their music is unexpected, going against the steriotype of their age group, performing songs, for example, by James Brown, and Sonic Youth.  Although they have toured Europe and sang for royalty, this account focuses on preparing new songs, not an easy endeavour, for a concert in their home town, which succeeds in spite of several heart-breaking events.

Rated PG for some mild language and thematic elements.

Second Hand Lions follows the comedic adventures of an introverted 14-year-old boy left on the doorstep of a pair of reluctant, eccentric great-uncles, whose exotic remembrances stir the boy's spirit and re-ignite the men's lives.
