Sunday, February 5, 2012 at 2:37PM SACRED CINEMA is coming again to Lakeview United Church on Monday evenings at 7:00 P.M. beginning on February 27. These are interesting "movies with a message" that we watch together and have a brief discussion afterwards. Once again we have an excellent lineup of films. They are free to everyone who comes - and there is popcorn and drinks (pop, juice or water) as well!
February 27: Dolphin Tale
Dolphin Tale is inspired by the amazing true story of a brave dolphin and the compassionate strangers who banded together to save her life.
March 5: The First Grader
The true story of an 84 year-old Kenyan villager and ex Mau Mau freedom fighter who fights for his right to go to school for the first time to get the education he could never afford.
March 12: Les Choristes
"Les Choristes" is touching, charming, funny, poignant and thought-provoking. Above all, however, it is very French. Character driven and intrinsically human, this is the story of a new supervisor, Clement Mathieu, who arrives at Fond de l'etang boarding school for underprivileged boys and immediately comes into conflict with the disciplinarian ethos of the Headmaster, Monsieur Rachin.
March 19: The Ultimate Gift
Jason thought his inheritance was going to be the gift of money and lots of it. Was he ever in for a big surprise. Based on the best-selling book "The Ultimate Gift" by Jim Stovall, the story sends trust fund baby Jason Stevens on an improbable journey of discovery, having to answer the ultimate question: "What is the relationship between wealth and happiness?"
March 26: Up
Disney-Pixar's Up – an animated comedy adventure about a 78-year-old man who sets out to fulfill his lifelong dream to see the wilds of South America. Right after lifting off, however, he learns he isn't alone on his journey, since Russell, a wilderness explorer 70 years his junior, has inadvertently become a stowaway on the trip.
