Cleanout the Closet Coat and Snowsuit Drive
Clean and usable coats and snowsuits are required for several agencies.  Snowsuits for children in schools in Calgary are required for Jacket Racket, a non-profit volunteer group.  Winter jackets or coats for adults will be taken to several agencies providing clothing for the working homeless or those in need on the street.  On Sept. 6 a box will be placed under the table in the Narthex to receive these items. Diane is searching for someone who would like to assist in Baptismal Preparation Classes as well as play a liturgical role in the Baptisms.  We expect about 3 meetings and Baptisms a year. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Diane directly or call the office. Thanks to Arlene MacDonald for her many years of ministry in this program.

Special resource people for Sunday School: that are willing to step in--no more than once a month.  If they have a talent, or activity they would like to share, contact Brenda Ball, Faye Forbes-Anderson or Barb Spence.

Friday, September 23  7:00 pm-9:00 pm & Saturday,  23th , 9:00 am -3:00 pm   The Calgary Multi-Faith Alliance brings together the different faith communities of Calgary in order to work together to transform our city into a community which provides justice and dignity and all. We are very pleased to be able to offer  two free community organising training sessions.  These sessions are intended to develop the leadership skills necessary for bringing about social change through community organizing. They will be led  by Joe Chrastil, a community organizer currently based in Seattle with over 25 years experience.  The same training will be offered twice.  Both trainings will take place at St. Laurence There is no cost for these trainings but we'll be asking for a $10 contribution to cover the cost of the food.   Registration deadline September 7th.
